Redbull is coming out with a new drink named Cocaine. According to Pop Sugar the makers of Redbull ”say a high hits you within five minutes, followed by a caffeine boost 15 minutes later. But hold on—the ride lasts five hours and the concoction is “350 percent stronger than Red Bull”. I mean, I’ll definitely try it. But you know some kid will end up dead after drinking 50 of these and they will pull it.

Life After the Baby
Sep 1
Let’s talk about our Friday nights now..
- 4:00PM – My mother came over to watch Nolan.
- 4:15PM – We’re wondering if they are serving dinner yet at the restaurant down the street.
- 4:20PM – We are immediately seated outside with people easily twice our age.
- 5:00PM – We have “adult beverages” and Carolyn declares she can no longer drive after two.
- 5:45PM – We think about getting another drink upstairs at the bar.
- 5:46PM – We decide against that and figure we will go out for iced cream at the farm down the street.
- 6:00PM – Order two Black Rasberry Ice Creams (in a cup to avoid the mess). One has Chocolate Sprinkles (Carolyn’s).
- 6:15PM – Watch goats eat.
- 6:17PM – Decide that they would eat just about anything.
- 6:30PM – Get home.
- 7:00PM – Nolan’s bath.
- 7:15PM – Nolan eats.
- 7:45PM – Nolan goes to bed.
- 7:55PM – Carolyn and I discuss if it would be ridiculous if we just went to bed right now. At 8:00PM.
- 7:56PM – We decide that it isn’t.
Good times.

It Is All In The Genes
Jul 12
If you know me you may have realized I have a slight gadget problem. I have this compelling need to buy the latest gadgets when something comes out that is significantly better than the one I have. It turns out that my gadget problem is a genetic disorder! :) From now on when I buy something new it should just be considered doctor’s orders!
It’s a boy! :)

It’s a good thing we have such enlightened folks deciding on the future of the internet. I know that every senator isn’t going to be an expert on the items they are voting on. That being said, I cannot believe he speaks to brazenly on a subject he clearly knows nothing about [wired.com].
“I just the other day got, an internet was sent by my staff at 10 o’clock in the morning on Friday and I just got it yesterday. Why? Because it got tangled up with all these things going on the internet commercially.”
As you xan see he clearly understands the net neutrality issues on the table. You have to love that special interest money.. I can only imaging the PowerPoint slide they showed him.

I have been using CentOS on production boxes for several years. It is very stable and I don’t have a pay a yearly support fee to RedHat. I should note that if I could afford it I would gladly go with RedHat as they offer some great web management options.
So, I have a test box here that I am going to bring online. The server is only going to host virtual machines so I want a lean and mean CentOS install. I installed the minimal CentOS 4.3 x64 and VMware Server and then ran into a problem. Since I only run OS X at home I didn’t have an easy way to run the console which is Linux or Windows only.
First thing is to install X11 on your Mac if you haven’t already. It turns out this isn’t installed by default on the Intel Macs but you can find it on your install DVD by running the Optional Packages program.
Next up you have to install some packages to get the X11 support in place on your VMWare server:
- yum install gcc glibc compat-libstdc* compat-glibc* compat-db* zlib zlib-devel*
- yum install pam pam-devel
- yum install xorg-x11-libs
- yum install xorg-x11-devel
- yum install fonts-xorg*
Fire up X11 and ssh into your VMWare box. Set your display to be your OS X box: DISPLAY=192.168.0.0:0.0 ; export DISPLAY (if you get permission denied run ‘xhost +’ in an xterm). Then run the vmware-server-console in the xterm and you should see the VMWare Server Console!
