This post comes to you from an email chain with a friend of mine (The General)..
Another little observation. In the age of video on demand, broadband, On Star, and even instantaneous on line banking; and with the billions spent by the government on our behalf to “protect us,” why does the Emergency Broadcast System still look like the beginning to a Atari 2600 game and make 1994 internet noises?
Can’t we upgrade this? I mean I can get any movie I want, any HBO show I want (all of which will be interrupted by the shockingly complex and intriguing images and sounds informing me in the Mr. Roboto voice that it is raining hard three counties away and then repeats the message just in case) but the National Weather Service (whose annual budget is over $700 million) can’t hire some EB type to bring it up to at least the cutting edge of ten years ago?
