Time to Add to the DVD Collection

I was checking up on mobog last night (note: sometimes there are offensive pics on that site) and saw a pic from WJP of the Better Off Dead DVD. I’ve been waiting for this and several other classic 80s movies to come out on DVD for awhile. I hopped onto Amazon and found that they released a bunch of my favorite movies from the 80s. In no particular order:

  • Better Off Dead – An absolute classic. No other movie combines Chinese guys talking like Howard Cosell and the high school ski team in such a masterful way.
  • One Crazy Summer – Not quite as well known as Better Off Dead but this one sticks to the greatness of Savage Steve Holland films. I believe this movie broke open the career of Demi Moore. Crazy Uncle Frank, random cartoon sequences, and of course Demi Moore.
  • Weird Science – Classic. You have to wonder though, how much weed did the writers smoke to come up with the motorcycle gang ending? So random. Oh, and if my gym teached looked like that I may have taken physical education a mit more seriously.
  • Real Genius – I don’t think this movie is well know, but I can almost go word for word when it is on. I seriously thought this is what college was like for years: ice skating in the hallways, bikini parties in the gym, and “lasers” (in my Dr. Evil voice). When I got to college I realized that the kids in Computer Science weren’t that cool.

My birthday is coming up soon. Please, work together to make sure I don’t receive any duplicates. ;)

Level of Nerd – Part 1

I’m not sure if there will be any additional parts to this story, but I liked the title. If any of you out there were questioning the level of my nerdyness I came across a tidbit on the internet this afternoon (notice the date). Not sure if this is embarrassing or cool.. well.. we know its not cool.

I would have to say this is no less than the 300th time I’ve watched this movie.

Happy Friggin New Year ‘05

Good morning and Happy New Year to everyone. I’ve been up for awhile and apparently I was very motivated this morning. I got up at about 7:00AM and…

  • Went to Dunkin Donuts to get a coffee (medium ice regular)
  • Went to the car wash to get the puke off the side of my car
  • Ate a munchkin while in the carwash and almost barfed (again)
  • Cleaned off by hand what the carwash didn’t get (good times)
  • Decided McDonalds and a nice McGriddle would settle my stomach
  • I’m at McDonalds at 7:57AM and they are closed until 8:00AM. The look at me through the window and smirk.
  • I decide to use my time wisely while waiting for McDs to open so I drive across the street to Walgreens to get a “Thank you for putting up with your drunken idiot husband who didn’t listen to you (more on that below.. again)” card. Suprisingly Hallmark doesn’t make one of those so I have to write it out myself.
  • The cashier at Walgreens can either tell I’m hungover cause I a) look like death b) smell like death or c) all of the above.. I pick C. She recommends a hangover remedy and “Chaser”. I buy both.
  • I take the Walgreens pills with my Iced Coffee. So good.
  • Drive back to McDs and order a McGriddle meal – no drink because my MedIceReg is in the cupholder. Did I mention there are no drive throughs in the town with the McDs? Annoying.
  • Back home, finished my coffee with all this driving around, I settle in to eat my McDs.
  • Three bites later I realize I can’t stomach this either and throw it away and get a large glass of water and a banana.
  • Go upstairs, sit in the big comfy chair, and watch Super Size me.
  • Make silly 2005 resolutions: never eat fast food again, eat “fresher”, and exercise WAY more.
  • Tell my wife my new years resolutions (to make them official) and decide I need more water and to blog.

I made mistakes last night. I broke long standing, well understood, drinking rules that have served me well over the years. Rules that I have gained after hard fought battles with various types of alcohol but choose to ignore when it is New Years Eve. Rules that I broke last night:

  • Mixing different types of booze.
  • Not listening to my wife after doing my first shot — yagger
  • Doing another shot – tequila — why?
  • Ordering more Coors Light
  • Not listening to my wife’s advise again after doing a car bomb. Who invented this and why?
  • Mixing more shots in with my Coors Light. Have you caught on to the mixing booze is bad theme?
  • Why did I ignore these rules? I am an idiot.

I did do one thing right last night: Go home when Carolyn decided it was time for me to go. Thank god I have someone watching out for me..

By the way, I made it to Burlington before I booted. So close to home.

Happy New Year! I’m never drinking again…
