D is for..

Sunday, January 23rd, 2005

D is for… DEFENSE! The Patriots defense took control and put Peyton in his place. The defense took “Big Ben” and the cround out of this game nice and early tonight. We’re on our way to the Super Bowl baby and it feels good. A couple of notes from the game:

Anyone notice they didn’t talk to Dan or Shannon after the game to get their feelings on the game? They both picker the Steelers and Shannon looked like he went into a seizure while waving his towel and screaming “Steelers!!!”. Assclowns. At least Boomer knows where it is at.

Oh, and “Terrible Towels”? Jesus Christ could that be more annoying or stupid? No. Why towels? Dumb.

According to the Steelers fans the fans of New England are “fair weather fans”. I won’t even touch that.

And in case you missed it the biggest premier of the season, NUMB3RS, is on RIGHT after the game. There were the commercials, the announcers promoting it, and the NUMB3RS of the game. When you beat something into my like that I just get turned off to it.. maybe that’s just me though?

Sing it with my now.. Here we go Patriots here we go! *CLAP CLAP* Here we go Patriots here we go! *CLAP CLAP*

Blizzard 2005

Sunday, January 23rd, 2005

Well, as most of you know (all three of you that read this) we’re are the tail end of the Blizzard of 2005. Normally this is just the news organizations trying to get you to watch the news while two inches of snow falls. However, this time it’s a legit snow storm! This morning my town received 4 inches of snow in 25 minutes! I took a few pictures to get you started, but I was getting blown away so I may have to take more later when it dies down.

Have fun digging out my friends..

“There’s things about me you don’t know, Dottie. Things you wouldn’t understand. Things you couldn’t understand. Things you shouldn’t understand.”

“I don’t understand.”

“You don’t want to get mixed up with a guy like me. I’m a loner, Dottie. A rebel.”

Good Luck! :)

Winter Driving Etiquette

Wednesday, January 19th, 2005

An open letter to people driving in the winter…

Here’s the deal. When you’re in a car and I’m in a parking lot trying to get into the store we are two people in very different environments: You are warm and safe from the elements in your car. I am being pounded by 15MPH winds and a wind chill of -20. But, this doesn’t matter to you, because you are a self consumed selfish son of a bitch. Why should you stop and let me go? You’re comfortable.

And it is with this that I ask you to adjust your thinking and pay attention. Let the people in the cold/snow/rain cross the street before you. Maybe even STOP and let them go with a gentle “please, go ahead” wave (with the phone not holding your cellphone of course). You might just make someones day.

More on the Patriots..

I’ve taken a lot of time to try and think of how to summarize my feelings about the Colts, Peyton, and the game of all games this weekend. But, I just can’t come up with it. The comments on the last post were fantastic, but I think Bill Simmons (the greatest sports writer) summed it up perfectly in his article this week on ESPN.com. Enjoy friends! Enjoy.

CUT THAT MEAT! CUT THAT MEAT!

I think I would like Peyton more if he just stuck to commercials. Today’s complete domination of the Colts proves just one thing: Payton is completely over rated. And begs to ask the question; If not today, when?

Sure you can make the arguement that it wasn’t just Peyton.. but I choose to dismiss that arguement and place the blame squarely on him. They should take the league MVP away from him and give it to my boy Troy Brown. Who else is playing special teams, defense, and offense?

Get ready for the Stealers folks. It’s going to be a good game but we’ve been there before and we’ve won. I’ve already put my Troy Brown jersey and T-shirt back into the closet.

Best sign in the crowd: MVP – MAKE VACATION PLANS. Excellent.

A gay spray?

Personally, I love the US Military because of the power and creativeness. We’ve got so much good stuff going on that people never even hear about. An excellent example of this come to us from an article posted over at NewScientist.com. This is too good to not have block quotes..

Most bizarre among the plans was one for the development of an “aphrodisiac” chemical weapon that would make enemy soldiers sexually irresistible to each other. Provoking widespread homosexual behaviour among troops would cause a “distasteful but completely non-lethal” blow to morale, the proposal says.

OK, seriously, that is just funny. First of all who the hell do you get to test this? Second of all can you imagine being a soldier and rolling up to the battlefield after you unleased that chemical weapon? I just picture the enemy with their shirts pulled up and tied at the waist Daisy Duke style with their pants pulled up into capris. Hmm.. I’ve already given this too much thought..

Your new God: Payton Manning

Wednesday, January 12th, 2005

The coverage of the Colts vs. Patriots game coming this weekend is starting to make me ill. Look, I’ll be the first to admit that Peyton is a stats machine and he’s a good QB. The fact is that he hasn’t won a big game. When he does maybe he’ll be worthy of this amount of attention. Eitherway, the media loves him. A recent exchange between buddies on this subject sums it up nicely:

CF:

I just keep reading about how good Manning is..everywhere.the last things I heard was that he discovered a cure for cancer, hes brining peace to the middle east after he wins the Superbowl, and he invented a good tasting potato chip that causes you to lose weight and grow hair. Its beyond ridiculous how much the media (not just sports) loves this guy.I just cant get over Manning is 0-5 at Foxborough.

If, scratch that, when the Pats win on Sunday, do you think theyll cancel the Superbowl because Manning isnt playing?

C praying for a drop in temps and snow F

RP:

Fact: Manning has never…NEVER… won the big game. He was 0-4 in
bowl games in college. Lost the Heisman to Charles Woodson his senior
yr and hasn’t won an AFC title yet.

Now 2005 has been labeled “The Year of the Manning” by all sports
casters and writers… and the say that he is a mirror image of Dan
Marino…. how many titles did Danny Boy win??? 0

Let’s just hope that Earthwin Mooreland isn’t going to be our Billy
Buckner of Football.

Identity Theft and T-Mobile

Tuesday, January 11th, 2005

While my open letter to the person who stole my identity is still in progress, I would like to note that not even a week after I signed up for a T-Mobile service with a new Sidekick II my identity was stolen and the credit card I used to purchase the plan was accessed and the address was changed. Coincidence? Maybe not: Hacker Breaks Into T-Mobile Network and had access to servers at wireless giant T-Mobile for at least a year. Or could it be this guy?

Either way it is a giant pain in the ass.

I’m behind on posting..

I’ve had family in town so I haven’t had much computer time this weekend. I’m back.. ;)
