STATE GOP CHAIR SAYS VIN GUPTA ILLEGALLY LAUNDERING MONEY THRU DNC TO STORMY DEAN CLINTON TEAM RALLIES FOR STORMY
Nebraska Republican Party Chairman David Kramer today revealed that Omaha multi-millionaire Vin Gupta, a close friend of Bill and Hillary Clinton, is laundering money through the Democratic National Committee to the Stormy Dean for Governor campaign. Kramer said Gupta and Dean’s arrangement is illegal and the State GOP is likely to file formal complaints with the Federal Election Commission and the Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure Commission and seek investigations by both agencies. Kramer said, “A source close to the situation has come forward to explain the money-laundering scheme. The information we have is that Vin Gupta has contributed $15,000 to the DNC in return for a commitment for the DNC to contribute $25,000 to the Stormy Dean campaign. The intent is to hide the Vin Gupta contribution.” Kramer continued, “Such a scheme is illegal under Nebraska law if not fully disclosed as an earmarked contribution. Therefore, the Nebraska Republican Party is prepared to file formal complaints with state and federal campaign watchdog agencies and to ask for a full investigation.” The revelation from the State GOP comes on the same day that top supporters of Bill and Hillary Clinton are gathering to boost the candidacy of Democrat Stormy Dean for Governor at the annual Nebraska Democrat Party Jefferson-Jackson Dinner. Terry McAuliffe, chairman of the DNC and tonight’s keynote speaker, was the Clinton’s top financial backer and. Vin Gupta, an Omaha businessman, was a key financial supporter of the Clintons and hosted a Nebraska fundraiser for Hillary Clinton’s 2000 Senate race. Ben Nelson, current U.S. Senator, was Bill Clinton’s campaign chair in 1992. Stormy Dean, Gupta’s employee and a Democrat candidate for Governor, contributed $1000 to Hillary Clinton’s 2000 campaign for Senate. ###
