The Quiet Surprise of Mike & Ike

Monday, August 30th, 2004

Without the ballyhoo and press promotion of other candies such as Skittles and M&Ms, it seems as though Mike & Ike have quietly added strawberry to their list of favors. Along with the release of this new flavor is an apparent upgrade in juice content because they are “Now Bursting with MORE FRUIT JUICE Flavor”. I for one am excited and taken back by the progress of Mike & Ike over the years. Here’s to keeping it fresh guys! My favorite flavor combination is yellow and green.. what is yours?

Armless and Fighting

Friday, August 27th, 2004

Another daytime television incident for you. First I would like to take this time to admit that I like daytime television. It must be the whiskey tango in me.. Anyway, this week is my production week so I can go into work later, which works out nicely because I can soak in some daytime television. This morning on Springer (of course) there was a woman fighting for her man. Which, is a typical Springer show so you’re not expecting anything too outrageous. Unless, of course, the woman fighting for her man has no arms. Yes, that’s right. Armless. So, I’ m thinking to myself that this woman is going to have a hard time throwing her shoe and slapping the woman that took her man. Turns out she was pretty good at defending herself! If you find yourself in this situation you should perfect your balance, do karate kicks, and follow it up with a shoulder bite. This seems to be a good way of defending yourself against an “armed” assailant. Time for Maury..

Puppets and The Pyramid

Wednesday, August 25th, 2004

I’m continually amazed by the crap that is on daytime TV. You would think that after Springer or Maury there wouldn’t be much left to have you scratching your head. That all changed for me this afternoon. I was getting ready to head into work (on the late shift today because of being on-call) and after Maury I didn’t change the channel. What came on next was “The Pyramid” hosted by Donnie Osmond. This is on in the background so of course you don’t think to much about it. When I turned around I saw two people and a puppet playing The Pyramid. They are to the point where people and their puppets are playing the game . So here was a lady going for the prize money by trying to get a giant puppet to say “constitution”. Good times.

GMail for President

Wednesday, August 25th, 2004

I have to tell you.. I LOVE GMail, the online mail service currently in beta mode with google. I’ve been using it off and on now for awhile and it is impressive. If I could sync this up with the email in my Mac I would be converted 100%. That being said, if anyone is interested in a gmail account I have an invite or two floating around. Just let me know!

Inside Al-Qaeda’s Hard Drive

Monday, August 16th, 2004

I am reading an excellent article on what was found on the Al-Qaeda laptop and computer that was bought by a Wall Street Journal reporter in the days after the Taliban fell. It provides an in depth look at the discussions among high level Al-Qaeda leaders. Check it out in the Atlantic Online (first born and DNA registration): here

It is important to work for a good company..

STATE GOP CHAIR SAYS VIN GUPTA ILLEGALLY LAUNDERING MONEY THRU DNC TO STORMY DEAN CLINTON TEAM RALLIES FOR STORMY

Nebraska Republican Party Chairman David Kramer today revealed that Omaha multi-millionaire Vin Gupta, a close friend of Bill and Hillary Clinton, is laundering money through the Democratic National Committee to the Stormy Dean for Governor campaign. Kramer said Gupta and Dean’s arrangement is illegal and the State GOP is likely to file formal complaints with the Federal Election Commission and the Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure Commission and seek investigations by both agencies. Kramer said, “A source close to the situation has come forward to explain the money-laundering scheme. The information we have is that Vin Gupta has contributed $15,000 to the DNC in return for a commitment for the DNC to contribute $25,000 to the Stormy Dean campaign. The intent is to hide the Vin Gupta contribution.” Kramer continued, “Such a scheme is illegal under Nebraska law if not fully disclosed as an earmarked contribution. Therefore, the Nebraska Republican Party is prepared to file formal complaints with state and federal campaign watchdog agencies and to ask for a full investigation.” The revelation from the State GOP comes on the same day that top supporters of Bill and Hillary Clinton are gathering to boost the candidacy of Democrat Stormy Dean for Governor at the annual Nebraska Democrat Party Jefferson-Jackson Dinner. Terry McAuliffe, chairman of the DNC and tonight’s keynote speaker, was the Clinton’s top financial backer and. Vin Gupta, an Omaha businessman, was a key financial supporter of the Clintons and hosted a Nebraska fundraiser for Hillary Clinton’s 2000 Senate race. Ben Nelson, current U.S. Senator, was Bill Clinton’s campaign chair in 1992. Stormy Dean, Gupta’s employee and a Democrat candidate for Governor, contributed $1000 to Hillary Clinton’s 2000 campaign for Senate. ###

Mandles

Wednesday, August 4th, 2004

I just don’t like mandles. I’ve put some solid effort into trying to get past the open toe shoe on males but I just can’t seem to get past it. Those Teeva (sp?) mandles are just brutal. I mean if you’re heading to the beach then fine, wear your mandles. But normal everyday summer wear.. put on some sneakers. No one has a desire to see your man toes.

Speaking of sneakers with shorts this seems to be confusing for some men, but I’ll straighten that out at a later date.
